Meet Sinto Advanced Ceramics at Compamed 2026

Learn how ceramic additive manufacturing supports medical device innovation through miniaturization, functional integration, and scalable series production.

Ceramic Additive Manufacturing for Medical Devices

Medical devices continue to become smaller, more complex, and more functional. At the same time, requirements for chemical resistance, electrical insulation, sterilizability, and long-term reliability are increasing. Ceramic additive manufacturing brings these requirements together and enables component designs that are often difficult or impossible to realize using conventional ceramic manufacturing processes.

Visit Sinto Advanced Ceramics at Compamed 2026 and discover how additively manufactured technical ceramics can support the development of next-generation medical devices and systems.

Why Medical Technology Companies Work With Us

Many customers approach us with a specific challenge rather than a finished component design. Limited installation space, demanding sterilization requirements, electrical insulation, integrated fluid channels, or complex geometries are typical examples.

As a specialized contract manufacturer for ceramic additive manufacturing, we support customers from the initial feasibility discussion through to series production. Our focus is on identifying where technical ceramics and additive manufacturing can create real value for the application.

Where Ceramic Additive Manufacturing Creates Value

The combination of technical ceramics and additive manufacturing opens new possibilities for medical technology applications where material performance and design freedom are equally important.

Typical advantages include:

  • Miniaturized components for compact devices and minimally invasive systems
  • Functional integration within a single component
  • Electrical insulation for sensors and medical instruments
  • Resistance to cleaning and sterilization processes
  • Excellent wear and chemical resistance
  • Reproducible manufacturing from prototype to series production

From Complex Requirements to Functional Components

Smaller than a dandelion seed: an additively manufactured insulating sleeve (right) and a ceramic gripper (left) for highly integrated medical technology applications.

One example is this additively manufactured zirconia gripper for medical applications. The component combines high mechanical strength with integrated functionality in a compact design. Internal channels, functional surfaces, and application-specific features can be incorporated directly into the ceramic component, reducing assembly effort while enabling highly integrated device concepts.

In another project, the team manufactured a ceramic insulating sleeve for a laparoscopic instrument used in minimally invasive surgery. The technological breakthrough: through precise scaling of ceramic 3D printing, 1,400 of these highly delicate components can be reproducibly manufactured in a single print job.

This approach reflects the broader potential of ceramic additive manufacturing: combining material properties, geometry, and functionality in ways that are often not feasible with conventional manufacturing methods.

More Than Prototypes

Sinto Advanced Ceramics specialises exclusively in ceramic additive manufacturing. Since 2018, the company has produced technical ceramics on a large scale, manufacturing hundreds of thousands of components for industrial applications. Combined with over 100 years of ceramic manufacturing and sintering expertise from their Bosch heritage, this forms the basis of stable, reproducible production processes. If you are considering a new application or developing a specific medical component, Sinto Advanced Ceramics would be happy to discuss your requirements with you at Compamed.
